Overview

Since 2011, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at EARTH University has offered transformative educational opportunities to young leaders from disadvantaged communities across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This scholarship program integrates mentoring, career counseling, service-learning opportunities, and internships alongside comprehensive financial support.

Upon completing EARTH University’s four-year program, most Scholars return to their countries, joining a growing network of leaders committed to improving global food systems and fostering sustainable livelihoods.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at EARTH University, applicants must:

  1. Be a resident and graduating high school student from Sub-Saharan Africa or Latin America.
  2. Demonstrate financial need within the lowest two quintiles of their country.
  3. Exhibit strong academic performance within their school system.
  4. Show a history of leadership and extracurricular involvement.
  5. Have a strong desire to return to their region and contribute to socioeconomic development.
  6. Be graduating from a recognized secondary school or meet necessary academic qualifications.
  7. Fulfill English language requirements (varies by country).
