The German Bundestag is now accepting applications for its 2026 International Parliamentary Scholarships (IPS) for politically and socially engaged young graduates from select African countries. This prestigious, fully funded opportunity brings together emerging leaders from Southern, East, and West Africa to experience the workings of Germany’s parliamentary democracy firsthand.

🎓 About the IPS Program
Since 2020, under the patronage of the President of the Bundestag, the IPS program has empowered talented, politically curious individuals from sub-Saharan Africa. Participants engage in an immersive four-week program in Berlin to explore the democratic and political structures of Germany.

📘 Program Highlights
- One-week internship in a German Bundestag member’s office
- Workshops on anti-corruption, intercultural training, and project management
- Seminars on pluralism, minority protection, and democratic engagement
- Development of personal projects for democracy and civil society in home countries
- Preparatory course on the German parliamentary system
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries
- Be under 30 years old as of January 1, 2026
- Have completed university studies
- Demonstrate German language proficiency (minimum B2 level – CEFR)
- Show strong interest in politics and a track record of social/political engagement
