π― About the Role
We are expanding our Security Operations (SecOps) team with multiple senior/staff Security Operations Engineer (SOC) positions. This team reports directly to the CISO and is tasked with: β
Defending high-value cyber targets
β
Securing the global Ubuntu estate
β
Building a new level of assurance into the open-source supply chain
Our mission is not only to secure Canonical but also to improve the security of the open-source ecosystem. The SecOps team will contribute to public knowledge-sharing, threat intelligence, and open-source security governance.
π Key Responsibilities
- Implement and evolve security standards & playbooks
- Analyze & improve security architecture
- Evaluate & implement new security tools
- Identify, contain, and remediate cyber threats
- Drive threat modeling & table-top exercises
- Develop learning materials & security training
- Contribute to open-source threat intelligence initiatives
- Publish blog posts, whitepapers, and conference talks
π οΈ What We Are Looking For
β Exceptional academic track record
β Degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent experience
β Passion for cybersecurity & staying ahead of threats
β Expertise in threat modeling & risk management frameworks
β Knowledge of security architecture & leading security tools
β Experience with threat intelligence feeds & security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST CSF)
β Optional (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Experience in a SOC (Security Operations Center)
- Hands-on offensive or defensive security expertise
- Exposure to state-actor & advanced persistent threats
