Overview
The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a prestigious scholarship program designed for outstanding international students with excellent undergraduate or master’s results and a strong interest in research. SINGA is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Singapore Management University (SMU), and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).
Students can pursue PhD or EngD training at participating institutions, conducting research in science and engineering. Upon completion, degrees are conferred by NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, or SIT.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the SINGA scholarship, applicants must:
- Be international graduates with a passion for research and excellent academic results.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Provide positive academic referee reports.
- Note: SINGA is primarily for international students applying to study in Singapore for the first time. Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and international students who have previously studied in Singapore are not eligible.
Scholarship Benefits
SINGA provides comprehensive support for up to four years of PhD studies, including:
- Tuition fees.
- Monthly stipend: S$2,700 (increased to S$3,200 after passing the Qualifying Examination).
- One-time airfare grant: Up to S$1,500.
- Settling-in allowance: S$1,000.

Application Procedure
Step 1: Browse Research Projects
- Visit the Research Areas section to explore PhD research projects that align with your interests.
Step 2: Prepare Required Documents
Ensure all documents are in English translation and submitted online. Do NOT mail hard copies to the SINGA Office.
Mandatory Documents:
- Valid passport.
- A recent passport-sized photo (in .jpeg or .png format).
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s academic transcripts.
- Bachelor’s Degree certificate(s) or a letter of certification from your university (if the degree certificate has not yet been conferred).
- Two recommendation reports (submitted online by referees).
Optional Documents:
- GRE scores (may be requested by the university).
- IELTS/TOEFL/SAT I & II/GATE results (submission is optional but may be requested later).
